In a somber reflection of solidarity and empathy, Dr. Faisal Shuaib has expressed profound commiserations with the Eggon Nation following the devastating accident that marred the 2025 Eggon Cultural Carnival in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.
The annual Eggon Carnival, a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage, unity, and community spirit among the Eggon people, turned tragic on December 28, 2025, when a horrific road accident involving multiple trucks rammed into participants during a procession near the Eggon Community Secondary School.
Reports confirm that at least four individuals lost their lives instantly, with several others sustaining severe injuries in what authorities have described as a preventable collision involving three heavy-duty vehicles. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has attributed the incident to possible brake failure or reckless driving, casting a shadow over the festive event that draws thousands from across Nasarawa State and beyond.
Dr. Shuaib issued a heartfelt statement on the matter emphasizing the need for collective healing.
“In this moment of unimaginable grief, I stand in solidarity with the Eggon Nation, the families of the departed, and the entire people of Nasarawa State,” Dr. Shuaib stated.
“The loss of our sons and daughters during what should have been a joyous procession at the 2025 Eggon Carnival is heartbreaking.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, who have lost loved ones in such sudden and painful circumstances. To the injured, I wish a swift and full recovery. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace, and may God grant us all the fortitude to bear this loss.”
