Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday commissioned the Federal Housing Estate road network constructed by the Adamawa State Government under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The project, located within the Federal Housing Estate in Girei Local Government Area, comprises reinforced concrete drains, culverts, and a 3.5-kilometre stormwater drainage system, designed to improve access, mobility, and flood control within the estate and its surrounding communities.
Performing the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Saraki commended Governor Fintiri for what he described as consistent and people-oriented infrastructural development across Adamawa State.
He praised the governor’s leadership style, describing him as a leader of integrity with a genuine commitment to the welfare and development of his people.
The former Senate President, who reflected on his longstanding relationship with Governor Fintiri, urged residents of the state to continue supporting the administration to enable it to deliver more dividends of democracy.
In his address, Governor Fintiri described the commissioning as more than the formal handover of a road project, noting that it symbolised the administration’s deliberate approach to governance, anchored on results, accountability, and service to the people.
He said the road network would directly improve daily life by shortening travel time, enhancing economic activities, and strengthening social and commercial connections within the estate and adjoining communities.
Governor Fintiri recalled that the project was flagged off in May 2024 as part of the state government’s commitment to addressing long-standing access and mobility challenges in the area.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to complete all awarded projects and avoid abandoned works, stressing that infrastructure development remains central to Adamawa State’s future.
The governor further assured residents that ongoing and future projects across the state would be executed with diligence, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility, adding that no community would be neglected in the development process.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Energy, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, described the road network as a vital internal link serving residents, traders, commuters, and service providers within the Federal Housing Estate and its environs.
According to him, the project has significantly reduced travel time, improved road safety, enhanced property values, and generated employment opportunities during its construction phase.
He commended the contractors for completing the project ahead of schedule and appealed to residents to take ownership of the road by protecting the drainage infrastructure.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Chairman of Girei Local Government Area, Adamu Dallatu; the member representing Girei Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Abubakar Abdullahi; the District Head of Girei; and the Abandoma of Adamawa, Dr. Ahmad Ibrahim Musa, alongside Halilu Hammamjoda.
They collectively lauded Governor Fintiri for his infrastructural strides and commitment to grassroots development.
