As Christians worldwide observe Holy Week, the solemn period commemorating the Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, a group of Dr. Faisal Shuaib’s supporters in Nasarawa State has turned the sacred season into a powerful platform for prayer and divine intercession.
In an exclusive interview with The EYEWITNESS Newspaper, Coordinator of the Dr. Faisal Shuaib Grassroots Support Initiative, Mr. Emmanuel Akpa, revealed that the group has organised intensive prayer sessions across the state, specifically leveraging the spiritual atmosphere of Holy Week to seek God’s intervention for Nasarawa’s progress and the emergence of what they describe as “a trusted and goal-driven leader.”
“We are not just observing Holy Week as Christians; we are using this sacred time to cry unto God for our state,” Akpa told The EYEWITNESS during a telephone interview on Thursday. “From Palm Sunday through to Good Friday and Easter, we have been on our knees. We are supplicating for peace, unity, and sustainable development in Nasarawa State. Above all, we are asking God to make our collective desire a reality, which is to give us Dr. Faisal Shuaib as the trusted and goal-driven leader this state desperately needs.”
Akpa explained that the prayer movement cuts across religious lines.
“Holy Week reminds us of sacrifice, resurrection, and new beginnings,” he said. “Nasarawa State is crying for continuityon the solid foundationlaid by GovernorAbdullahiSule. We believe God is listening to our supplications. Dr. Shuaib possesses the integrity, vision, and capacity to lead us. We are praying that the Almighty will clear every obstacle and make his leadership manifest at the right time.”
When asked why the group chose this particular season for such focused prayers, Akpa responded passionately: “This is not politics as usual. This is a spiritual battle for the soul of our state. We have seen leaders come and go, but what Nasarawa needs now is someone who is truly trusted by the people and driven by clear, measurable goals for development like Governor Sule. We cant afford to go backwards from here. We are therefore taking our case to the ultimate Judge during this Holy Week.”
The coordinator disclosed that the prayer initiative will culminate in a special Easter thanksgiving service where supporters will continue to intercede for the state and Dr. Shuaib’s aspirations.
Residents who spoke to The EYEWITNESS on the sidelines of the prayer meetings expressed similar sentiments. “We want a leader who will not betray the trust of the people,” said Mrs. Rebecca Titus. “If God answers our prayers this Holy Week and installs Dr. Shuaib, Nasarawa will finally move forward from where Engr. Sule will stop.”
As the Holy Week observances reach their peak this weekend with Easter celebrations, Dr. Faisal Shuaib’s supporters say their supplications remain unwavering.
The EYEWITNESS could not reach Dr. Faisal Shuaib for comment at press time, but sources close to him confirmed he is aware of the prayer movement and remains focused on his vision for the state.
