Participants from the Air Force War College have taken a national study tour to the 8 Division, Nigeria Army Sokoto with the aim of deepening their understanding of operational and strategic air power in support of civil authority and national development.
The participants comprising of Course 12/2026 while at the
Headquarters 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA affirmed that the tour will serve as a critical link between state-level operations and the strategic deployment of air power in safeguarding national security.
Speaking in his remarks, the Commandant Air Force War College Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Gambo Mbaka, said the
year’s theme, “State Resources and Air Power: National Development in Northwest Nigeria in Focus,” noted that the tour will explores how air power capabilities can drive security enhancement and socio-economic progress across the region.
AVM Mbaka who added that the tour is also part of their
operational framework added that participants were divided into three teams in the north west for coordinated field engagements.
“Team A is in Sokoto State, Team B went to Kebbi State while Team C is in Zamfara State. And this tour will not only help provide firsthand exposure to the security challenges in Northwest Nigeria, but also cement collaborative efforts with 8 Division Nigerian Army, Operation FANSAN YAMMA and other security agencies in countering security challenges in the region”.
While noting that the tour will also create reality between theory and practice, AVM. Mbaka affirmed that much as classroom instruction in operational art and joint planning is crucial, however direct engagement with institutions shapes professional judgment and operational readiness.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, and Commander Joint Operarion Fassan Yamma, Major General, Bemgba Koughna expressed satisfaction for the story tour.
The GOC who was represented by the 8 Division Command’s Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Ibrahim Gambari said the Division remain commited to inter-agency cooperation and continuous professional development within the Armed Forces.
