Nasarawa State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo, commended the CEO of the Dangote Foundation Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for support to vulnerable communities across the nation.
This commendation came as Dr. Margaret spearheaded the distribution of palliative rice from the Aliko Dangote Foundation in her hometown of Keana Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Founded in 1994, the Aliko Dangote Foundation regularly engages in philanthropic activities aimed at combating hunger and improving the livelihoods of over 1 million underprivileged Nigerians across 774 local government areas during the Ramadan and Lenten periods.
In Nasarawa State, CEO Alhaji Aliko Dangote has appointed Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo to oversee the distribution of 2,300 bags of 10 kg rice, a program flagged off by Governor Abdullahi Sule for delivery across the 13 local government areas.
During the rice distribution in vulnerable households within Keana Local Government Area, Commissioner Dr. Margaret stressed that the initiative by the Aliko Dangote Foundation is an annual practice aimed at alleviating the plight of the less privileged, particularly during Ramadan and the Lenten season.
Dr. Margaret assured the people of Keana Local Government Area that after the completion of the first phase of distribution, a second phase will be conducted.
She plans to move door-to-door to ensure that those who did not benefit from the first phase receive their own share.
The Commissioner applauded the foundation for its generosity, stating that the rice distributed to the people of Nasarawa aligns with the goals of the Governor Sule administration to provide support to the community during challenging times.
Adamu Aboki, Chairman of the Keana Local Government Area, noted that 150 bags were allocated to each ten electoral wards, commending the Dangote Foundation’s actions as commendable and impactful.
His Royal Highness Alhaji Abdullahi Agbo, the Osana of Keana, also expressed his support for Princess Dr. Margaret Elayo, recognizing her dedication to her community and commending the transparent nature of the rice distribution process.
