No fewer than 140 stakeholders from across various agencies, and departments have renewed their commitments to ensuring improved nutrition outcomes in Nigeria.
The stakeholders who were brought together by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, through the Nutrition Department, for the Second Quarter 2026 National Nutrition Technical Working Group (NNTWG), assured of evidence based delivery.
With “Strengthening Nutrition Routine Information System” , as it’s theme, the meeting brought together over 140 participants from government, development partners, civil society, academia, and state nutrition offices to strengthen nutrition coordination and data systems.Stakeholders emphasized that quality nutrition data is fundamental to evidence-based planning, service delivery, and accountability.
Discussions at the event highlighted ongoing reforms to strengthen the National Health Management Information System (NHMIS) through the integration of additional nutrition indicators and the nationwide rollout of revised reporting tools. Progress was also reported on the Nigeria Health Logistics Management Information System (NHLMIS), with 23 nutrition commodities now tracked and 23 states reporting live nutrition commodity data.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthen routine nutrition information systems, improve stakeholder coordination, and accelerate collaborative actions towards reducing malnutrition and improving nutrition outcomes across Nigeria.
