The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has commended the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for transforming the State to the level it is in less than 3 years in office.
The President gave the commendation while speaking at the wedding reception of the son of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Samuel George Akume and his wife Deborah in Makurdi.
Represented by the Vice president, Sen. Kashimi Shettima, the president acknowledged the contributions of Benue people in modern Nigeria, saying , “the 2023 General Election was the most divisive election in the anals of the Nigerian history but Benue people decided for the candidate of Nigeria and not a religious Candidate, not the Northern Candidate”. He further emphasized that Benue State is too important to toil with, hence the need for unity and oneness among its leaders.
In His remarks, the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia said it was an honour to have the president, represented by His Vice, Sen. Kashami Shettima CON on a visit at a crucial time like this in Benue.
He applauded the President’s commitment to the development of the country, stressing that Nigeria is moving forward under the Renewed Hope Agenda, even as he called on all Nigerians to join hands with the President to make the country a better place for all.
While congratulating the newly wedded couple on behalf of the good people of Benue State, Gov. Alia charged them to add value to the development of the State, emphasizing the need for them to go with God in all their endeavours.
The Governor was accompanied by His Deputy, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode mni, the Chief of Staff, Barr. Moses Atagher, Members of the State Executive Council and other top government officials.
In his vote of thanks, the SGF, Sen. George Akume expressed appreciation to the President, the Governor and other dignitaries for gracing the occasion of his son’s wedding, and prayed God to grant all attendees journey mercies back to their various destinations.
